Expired Ham – Vol. 2 Iss. 18

Expired Ham

Another week of amateur radio has expired. Expired Ham, get it? 🙂

Welcome to another issue of Expired Ham, a weekly newsletter where I discuss the ways I participated in the amateur radio hobby this week.

I hope you all had a great week. I’ve had a fun time putting together the newest feature of the website, a section where I display my growing collection of Morse Code Keys. Please have a look. It’s still a work in progress as I get the rest of the collection added and some copy written about the keys.

The goal of putting all of this online is to add to the available information for other collectors or people just looking for more information about keys they have. I’ve made it a point to ensure that there are adequate, high-quality photographs of each key since this is an area lacking severely with other collector’s sites online. I hope someone finds it all useful.

At the moment, there is only one key that is not currently depicted on the site. That’s a 1930 Vibroplex Lightning Bug with a red enameled base. These are special and scarce since they were only produced for a few years during the Great Depression. Other colors include blue and green. Once I have photos of it, it’ll go up online with the rest of the collection. I should have that content available later in the coming week.

73s,
Matthew, K2MAS
