Another week of amateur radio has expired. Expired Ham, get it? 🙂
Welcome to another issue of Expired Ham, a weekly newsletter where I discuss the ways I participated in the amateur radio hobby this week.
I have not bothered to dig out my antenna from underneath the ice and snow that covered it more than two weeks ago. We have had such cold temperatures here lately that it is taking forever for that snow to melt away. Needless to say, I’ve had yet another week of no radio activity.
I did learn of a replacement for HamClock. Not long after we all received news that HamClock would be going away this Summer, an alternative was made available. And it’s a really nice one! Take a look at OpenHamClock, which is a web-based solution which provides all of the information that HamClock provides and much more.
OpenHamClock is customizable so it will display relevant information suited to your station location and viewing needs. The interface is modern and clean, while still providing lots of useful data.
I was out of town for the latter half of the week for a work thing so I didn’t really dig too much into the world of ham radio to bring you much else. Do check out OpenHamClock if you’ve not heard about it yet. It’s a really great piece of software.
